Kite Festival Berck Sur Mer - Friday 17th April

Every year in March/April, Berck Sur Mer holds the international kite festival. The colourful spectacular has taken place for more

than two decades. People flying kites from France as well as from all over the world, participate in this very popular event. Spectators can see kites from every colour, size and shape.  Stunt kites and formation teams give fabulous exhibitions and the seaside atmosphere is electric.

Join us for a day trip to France On Friday 17th March with a stop at Etaples, as it is market day there.

JumilArt - Berck Sur Mer - 29 May - 1 June

Local French artists are joined by those from Hythe and Bad Honnef, Germany, to showcase artwork, crafts and photographs.

Last year several artists from Hythe Art Society exhibited their paintings along with photographs from a Hythe resident.  School groups attended, engaged in craft activities, created their own mural and practised English with some of our Twinning Members.

The event was open to the public over the weekend.

Sunday saw the artists painting ‘en plien’ air in the local gardens and seafront.  Take the opportunity to visit the Seal Beach, a local phenomenon not to be missed.

The Twinning relationship with Hythe goes from strength to strength and activities like this make for an even stronger bond.

The Poperinge Hop Fest and Parade – 18 – 21 September 2020

As the hop-growing centre of Flanders, every three years Poperinge organizes an original Beer and Hop Festival.  The highlight is the Parade in which 65 groups, 1400 extras and 12 floats take part. The Hop Parade tells the history of the development of the hop industry, provides an overview of the various activities in the field through the four seasons and a presentation of the main hop-producing countries in the world.

To tie in with the parade, Poperinge Hop Museum will be open throughout the day. You also have the chance to visit a hop company, where you can see a huge picking machine in action.

There are also shows, a beer festival à la Munich in the festival marquee and a stunning firework display to round it all off.

Come and join us for a day trip to Belgium.

Hythe Twinning Association will have a stand over the three days, to showcase our local brewer, tourist information and forthcoming events.
